About

David Torok was born in East-Germany on May 18th 1979. Inspired by heroes of Eastern cinema such as Jackie Chan, Jet Li and Bruce Lee, David began his own extraordinary career in the martial arts at the age of 10.

In his first years David was trained in traditional Wushu/Kungfu styles and so began a time of austerity and hard training. Several times a day over the course of many years he devoted his time to the study and training of chinese martial arts.

Thanks to his ambition and his joy for training David made rapid progress and soon he belonged to the best of his school.

As an avid admirer of Jackie Chan he discovered his passion for the Beijing Opera and went through several years of training in which he studied Wushu/Kungfu and acrobatics next to lessons of acting and singing. His master at that time was a professional Beijing Opera Actor from Shanghai.

After his training in Beijing Opera David changed his focus to competitional Wushu and his success there followed quickly after.

He won a number of top rankings on renowned European and Asian tournaments and in 1999 he was rewarded with the nomination for the German National Team in the Wushu World Championship in Hongkong.

With his successful participation in Hongkong the national media started to take note of David Torok and soon this exceptional athlete could be found in both Television and newspapers.

While his representation in the media grew, David received first offers for TV (The Puma, directed by Donnie Yen) and cinema productions and he worked as a martial arts actor, choreographer, stuntman, and actors coach.

At the same time he founded Germany`s No.1 Wushu Team the Berlin Wushu Team. The Berlin Wushu Team dominated under David`s leadership the national competitions for ten years. Most of his students became national and international champions and competed in european and world championships.

When he concluded his sports career with the participation in the Wushu World Championship in Toronto 2009, David was the most successful Wushu (Taolu) athlete in German history.

In 2011, David was selected by one of Chinas most renowned action director Sammo Hung (Hung Jinbao) to play in the movie trilogy "Tai Chi 0".

Soon after he was chosen by the famous Jackie Chan Stuntteam to play in "Chinese Zodiac 12" which is the third part of the "Armour of God" saga.
